There are several steps involved in adding a new Fact Sheet to the Website:
- adding the PDF to the media library
- adding the PDF to the “Downloads library”
- uploading featured images to the media library
- Creating the blog post
- making sure both the French and English versions appear correctly
- ensuring the download links are connected to the correct PDF document
- Making the newly published Fact Sheet appear in the navigation menu so it can be found by site visitors and members
Recommended order of operations:
- Upload the PDF into the Downloads Library area first; this makes it available for the media library to be selected while you’re making the blog post and putting the document into the PDF Embedder block.
- Use an existing Fact Sheet blog post and “Duplicate This” so you can use it as a template which already contains all the shortcode blocks for both English and French. It will speed up the process for you to just edit the two pieces in each language instead of starting from scratch with a new blog post.
- Publish the post then view the live link and use the Translation editor to touch up any issues between French and English versions
- Add the new fact sheet in the navigation menu by visiting the WordPress dashboard and going to Appearance–>Menus and editing the top menu, taking note of where you want it to appear, then using the checkbox to add it to menu. Last, drag and drop the newly added menu item into position where you want it to appear and click Save at the bottom.
Here’s a video tutorial covering the process, which I didn’t do in the above order, but I did cover all the steps.
