Principle Researcher: Dr. Andrew Jin

You are being invited to participate in the research study, “Origin of Chronic Pain.”

The purpose of this study is to better understand the etiology of chronic pain in Canada and to characterize the demographics of Canadians living with chronic pain, including symptomatology, utilization of health services, and perceived treatment responses. Current data we have was collected almost 30 years ago, outside of Canada. We believe this information is very important to prevent and manage chronic pain effectively.

You are eligible to participate in this survey if you meet all of the following criteria: you are

  • 18 years or older,
  • living with chronic pain (pain lasting 3 months or longer), and
  • live in Canada

You can choose to end your participation in this research (called withdrawal) at any time while completing the survey without having to provide a reason.

Available in English and French, the survey is expected to take 10-25 minutes, and it can be completed using any smart devices or computers.

HiREB has granted final approval for ethics on January 26, 2023 (project ID15867).
