Sometimes we may want to add a new book to the Community Picks section of the website (found under Resources.) Other times, we may want to edit the description or content of the books. There are a few approaches we can take to look after these tasks.
First, let’s look at editing an existing book description.
The steps:
- Log into the FAC site (if you haven’t already)
- Find the book on the website you want to edit by visiting Resources–>Books – Community Picks
- Click on the title of the book you’d like to edit so that you can view that individual book’s details
- At the top of the page, in the black bar, you will click the PENCIL icon beside “Edit Book”
- Make your edits
- Click the blue Update button on the right hand column once you’re finished



How to Update Book Descriptions
In a hurry, we may have simply copy and pasted a book description from Amazon. When we don’t credit where the writing has come from, this is plagiarism and we need to avoid that and protect ourselves from copyright infringement issues. To update a book description, take the following steps.
- Copy the content in the description which you wish to change
- Visit ChatGPT.com and type in “Please paraphrase this book introduction for me: (and then paste in the description that you copied from the FAC website book description.)” and click the black UP arrow (near the bottom right of the ChatGPT screen)
- Review the content that ChatGPT has created and if it is acceptable, then either highlight and copy the text or use the “double-square” COPY icon at the bottom of the chat to copy it to your clipboard on your computer
- Find the book on the website and click the PENCIL icon beside Edit Book (assumes you are already logged into the FAC site)
- Once you are in the editor screen int he FAC site, you can highlight and delete the old book description content and then paste in the new paraphrased content you got from ChatGPT
- Click the blue UPDATE button
How to Add a Completely New Book to the FAC Site
- Log in to the FAC website
- Visit the admin dashboard (using the speedometer icon in the top left in the black bar)
- In the left-hand menu, look for “Books” and hover over it
- Select “Add new book” from the list.

- This opens the Book Editor so we can now do the following–
- Add the Book title
- Write a description/summary in the box at the top (under the title)
- Scroll down the page and add the Release Date under the Book Details section
- Add the Amazon Affiliate link to purchase the book in the Link to Purchase or Download this Book section
- Scroll further down to the Formats section and check all the formats that are applicable (paperback, Kindle, etc.)
- In the right hand column, add a picture of the book cover (you may need to get a screen shot from Amazon if the author has not provided a picture of the book cover for us. See below for links to tutorials for getting screen shots.)
- Select a genre for the book
- Select the appropriate tags for the book (i.e.: Fibromyalgia, Chronic Illness, Chronic Pain –select what is appropriate for the book you are making a listing for.)
- Click the blue Publish button in the upper right side of the page.
